#PrEPSaves Deja
“I’ve been on PrEP for many years. I actually had a friend tell me about it and I’ve been on generic PrEP ever since, and I think it’s been a pretty good regimen for me to prevent HIV transmissions.”
Dejahas found that PrEP allows her to be more sex positive, while also being safe. Generic PrEP is low cost and effective, and is a key component to making PrEP accessible as a part of a National PrEP Program.
“For me as a woman of trans experience, we often are not seen in PrEP [ads], and when the movement first started out, it was promoted to mostly white gay men. It was a missed opportunity for us as transwomen to be seen and heard.”
Hear more of Deja’s story and the importance of more community-led campaigns as a part of a robust National PrEP Program. The most effective campaigns would center the experiences of groups disproportionately impacted by HIV, such as transwomen, to create more awareness about the benefits of PrEP.
