PrEP4All and members of the PrEP Users Union, a group consisting entirely of current or former PrEP users, along with 183 PrEP users and 348 PrEP supporters, sent a letter to J. David Joyner of CVS Health in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and Daniel O’Day at Gilead in Foster City, California requesting that both companies move quickly to strike a deal that will allow for ready access to lenacapavir (brand name Yeztugo) as PrEP for individuals linked to CVS Health. Advocates assert that corporate profits, whether for manufacturer or insurer, must not come before ensuring simple, unfettered access to a breakthrough PrEP option that could prove critical for anyone who would benefit from an alternative to daily pills.

PrEP users need and deserve access to taxpayer-funded HIV prevention innovations; corporate dealmaking must not get in the way of that. Signatories urge both Mr. Joyner and Mr. O’Day to come quickly to the table and strike a deal that aligns with the intent of US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidance– create a pathway to lenacapavir as PrEP for CVS Health covered patients that is completely free of cost sharing without the use of prior authorizations or utilization management.
